Ucantekme.com was launched in June 2001 as a custom-made blog, initially focusing on internet culture and politics. Following the 9/11 attacks in New York, the site evolved into a vibrant community platform. During this time, when mainstream media faced censorship challenges, Ucantekme.com became a hub for discussion, idea sharing, and information exchange about the events. Community members actively engaged in discussions, voted on ideas, and shared links and resources.
In recognition of its impact and engagement, the liberal Turkish newspaper Radikal named Ucantekme.com as one of the best community websites in 2001. The site’s features, including custom publishing software, forums, voting systems, and visual templates, were designed and developed by Burak Arikan and Engin Erdogan. However, Ucantekme.com ceased operations in early 2005.
